Accounting is the lingua franca of modern commerce. Project managers and data analysts alike must possess a good knowledge of its fundamentals. The elements of accounting provide, on the one hand, a reliable data base for decision-making. On the other hand, quantitative analysis can be applied for planning purposes and for monitoring a company’s success.

In this module, you will get to grips with the basics of financial accounting, including the a thorough understanding of a company’s balance sheet as well as its income statement. In addition, you will gain insight into the fundamentals of managerial accounting as well as controlling. Here, you will cover budgeting, KPI analysis, variance analysis and profitability analysis.

After successfully completing the module, you will be able to produce, evaluate and interpret reports and performance models, with the goal of supporting senior management. You will also learn how to create and expand management information systems and hot to  present KPIs to managers.
