Change processes within companies are difficult to ignore but they can be even more difficult to manage. This is a view shared by those affected by change processes as well as by the change agents themselves.

In this module you will get to know the essential elements of change management and learn useful tools to help you in your leadership role, initiating and deploying the processes of change within and across an organization.

After the initial induction into the subject, you will reflect upon the resistance that many change processes come up against. Here, emphasis will be put on the individual and their behavioral patterns. Afterward, you will broaden your scope to include groups (systems view). Here, group dynamics play a key role and you will get the opportunity to analyze these dynamics in person.

After you have gained confidence in the analysis and better understanding of change processes, you will then gain insight into the practical tools used to shape and manage those processes. Here, you will be able to grasp the methods used to turn those passively affected by change processes into active participants—wherever this may be possible and/or is necessary. You will also be able to model and then generate an intervention framework with the necessary measures for effective change management.

In the second part of the module, emphasis will be put on managers as the promoters of change within an organization. Here, you will be called on to analyze specific management scenarios in case studies. In this way you will gain insight into decision-making processes.
